Gregorio Allegri’s composition “Miserere Mei, Deus” from 1638 visually transcribed using a method where each key is assigned a color and octaves are denoted by bars and circles.
the composition was famously banned from being transcribed and copied by the catholic church, until a 14 year old Mozart transcribed it from memory one night after hearing the piece.
